Love The Sinner...

I really hate posts like this.   I'm a firm believer that we should talk less and do more, being humble in our faith, and sharing in the beautiful simplicity of the Gospel with believers and non-believers alike. I don't want to be the young Christian who is so

Some Thoughts Concerning C.S. Lewis

To all of you who are C.S Lewis fans, another work he has done besides The Chronicles of Narnia would be Mere Christianity ... Which I would almost consider to be his best work. Below are few quotes from the book which I've been thinking upon the last couple of

Context Is Everything

This past month I was able to travel from Seattle, where I now live, to the city I grew up in, San Diego, for a much-needed Christmas break. Of course, the obvious benefits of this trip included seeing my family, home cooked meals, and the abundant sun. Furthermore, no

I’m a firm believer that we should talk less and do more, being humble in our faith, and sharing in the beautiful simplicity of the Gospel with believers and non-believers alike. I don’t want to be the young Christian who is so arrogant that he feels compelled to share his “deep thoughts” about the Bible to stoke his ego, or make himself seem more Godly or spiritual by blogging (or tweeting, or facebooking, et. al) his devotions.  Read more

It’s been a week of ups and downs for the University of Washington football team.

In a matter of seven days we have lost two of the biggest recruits that our state has seen in recent history in the players Josh Garnett (Puyallup HS) and Zach Banner (Lakes HS). Garnett choosing the Stanford Cardinal and Zach Banner choosing the USC Trojans.

5 Golden Nuggets from 2 Years of Interning

There are a lot of things that I have got to experience in my life that have shaped and made me into who i am today, but none more impacting than the two years I spent as a Ministry Institute intern. I have no idea what possessed me to become an intern at a church where i hardly knew anyone and in a city that i didn’t even like. (Puyallup, who would have thought that i would actually learn to love the city lol) I came into the program a mess, thrown on to stable ground after almost drowning in the world. I didn’t know i was called into ministry, i just knew that i had to get away from the crazy lifestyle that i was living, and i figured to live at a church for 9 months would be the best way of doing that. (genius! i know ha)  So i moved in! 617 9th Ave SE Puyallup WA 98372 and i started a journey that revealed soo much about me, no not the things i was good at but the places where i lacked. With a program full of great leaders, you really start to see who you truly are and yea it was easy faking it the first few weeks, “trying” to be all perfect but the flaws come out in month two. So after two years, being refined, shaped, molded into a man (not a boy any more) i have learned A LOT of things that i try to pass on to others who are coming into ministry and into the Ministry Institute program. There are 5 specific timeless “golden nuggets” that i try to teach to others to save them time from countless mistakes and consequences. Here they are!!!…

I would like to say before I start this post, that it is based only off of what I know and what I can percieve from my point of view. This is not to be taken as the holy word from God, Himself. He did not write this on a golden tablet for me to deciepher, nor did he tell me in a dream, althought, I do believe God inspires us and moves in mysterious ways, i.e. through some group of guys who put a blog together and dont really know what they are doing, to say what He puts on our hearts. So on that note…Dear, Idiot Christian,… Read more
